Can I reserve a specific make and model of car?

When you reserve with iRent, you select from vehicle categories such as economy, full-size, SUV, minivan or luxury. We guarantee you will receive a vehicle in your chosen category, but we cannot guarantee a specific make, model or color.

What do I need to bring when I pick up my rental car?

Accepted Answer

Please bring: a valid driver's license (physical copy), a second photo ID (passport if traveling from abroad), an acceptable form of payment in the primary driver's name to cover the rental and deposit, your reservation confirmation number, and proof of address if requested. Make sure you meet the minimum age requirements.

What are the driver's license requirements?

US residents must present a valid driver's license issued by a US state, territory or possession, valid for the entire rental period. Active-duty US military personnel may present a valid military ID with a state license. International renters must present a valid license from their country of residence; if it is not in English, an International Driver's Permit (IDP) or certified translation is also required, along with the original license. Photocopies of licenses are not accepted - you must present the physical document.

Is there a minimum age to rent a vehicle?

The minimum age to rent with iRent is 21, with a valid driver's license and a major credit or debit card. Drivers aged 21-24 are considered young drivers and a young-driver fee may apply. Do you have special policies for local drivers?

A driver is generally considered local if their driver's license was issued in Florida or a neighboring state. Local drivers may be subject to additional requirements such as a higher deposit or proof of valid full-coverage insurance. Question 7

What methods of payment are accepted?

Accepted Answer

We recommend a credit card in the primary driver's name with sufficient funds to cover the rental and the security deposit. If you prefer to pay with a debit card, please contact your pick-up location before booking to confirm it is accepted. If an acceptable form of payment is not presented at pick-up, the reservation may be declined and the cancellation policy may apply.

What is the security deposit, and when is it taken?

At pick-up we place a hold on your card to cover potential damage or theft during your rental. If the vehicle is returned on time, undamaged, reasonably clean and with the agreed fuel level, your full deposit is released - please allow several business days for it to appear back in your account. The deposit amount depends on the driver's age, the vehicle class, and whether a credit or debit card is used.

Will there be any additional charges at pick-up or return?

Possible charges at the counter include any portion of the rate not prepaid online, the security deposit, and optional add-ons you choose, such as child seats (we recommend reserving these in advance), GPS, prepaid fuel or vehicle upgrades. What insurance is available for my rental car?

Accepted Answer

iRent offers Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) and Third Party Liability (TPL) through our website and at our offices. Supplemental Liability Insurance (SLI), Roadside Assistance (RSA), Personal Accident / Personal Effects coverage (PAI/PEI), Glass & Tire cover and a deductible waiver may be available at pick-up. If you already carry auto insurance, check with your insurer - you may already be covered for rental vehicles.

Can I add additional drivers?

Yes. Additional drivers can be added at pick-up. Each additional driver must be present with a valid license, and an additional daily fee may apply.

Question 12

What is the fuel policy?

Accepted Answer

Return the vehicle with the same fuel level as at pick-up to avoid refueling charges. A prepaid fuel option may be offered at pick-up, which lets you return the car with any fuel level, though it is usually more expensive than refueling yourself.

Question 13

What happens with tolls, parking and traffic fines?

Accepted Answer

Parking, tolls, traffic fines and garage charges are the driver's responsibility, and administrative processing fees may apply. Many South Florida highways use electronic tolling (SunPass) with no cash option - ask our team about toll options when you pick up your vehicle.

How can I cancel or change my reservation?

Question 15

What do I do if I have a duplicate reservation?

Accepted Answer

If you accidentally created duplicate confirmed reservations for the same driver and itinerary, contact us as soon as possible - well before the pick-up date. To qualify for a refund, the duplicates must have the same driver details (name spelling and date of birth) and identical itineraries.

Is there a grace period for late pick-up or return?

Accepted Answer

If you expect to arrive later than your scheduled pick-up time, or return later than scheduled, please call us in advance at (305) 608-8691. Grace periods are subject to availability and authorization, and late charges may apply per your rental agreement.

Question 17

What do I do if my rental car is damaged or in an accident?

Accepted Answer

First, make sure everyone is safe. Then: (1) contact us immediately using the number on your rental agreement to file an incident report - do not arrange your own tow or repairs without informing us; (2) notify the local police and file an accident report; (3) contact your insurance company to start a claim; (4) collect the other parties' names, phone numbers and insurance details; and (5) photograph the scene and the damage.

What are the geographic and mileage policies?

If you plan to take the vehicle out of Florida, contact us before your trip - out-of-state travel may not be permitted or may involve additional charges. Mileage terms vary by rate; even where unlimited mileage is offered, conditions may apply. Check your rental agreement or ask our team.

What if I am denied pick-up because I do not meet the requirements?

Accepted Answer

Common reasons for a denied pick-up are: no acceptable form of payment, no valid driver's license, not meeting local-renter requirements, or arriving after the scheduled pick-up window. If your pick-up is denied, contact us to request a refund review - refunds in these cases are subject to approval. Partial refunds for unused rental days after an early return are not standard, but exceptions may be reviewed for documented emergencies.
