How many seats you actually need once luggage is in the picture, what the deposit is, and how airport collection works.
Vans are the vehicle people most often get wrong. The seat count on the listing assumes nobody is carrying anything. A 7-seat van with all seats upright has roughly the boot space of a hatchback — fine for a school run, useless for seven people arriving from an international flight with a case each.
| Group | Realistic choice | Why |
|---|---|---|
| 5–6 with luggage | Minivan (7-seat) | Fold the third row and you have proper boot space |
| 7 with luggage | Full-size van or two vehicles | All seats up leaves almost no room behind |
| 8–11 | 12-seat van | Rear rows removable for cases |
| 12–15 | 15-seat van | Church, team and family-reunion territory |
The blunt rule: count the bags, not just the people, and go one size up if the trip starts at an airport.
Do not go to the Car Rental Center. We are at the Holiday Inn Miami International Airport, 1111 S Royal Poinciana Blvd. Go to the Arrivals Level (Level 1), outside baggage claim, and use the curbside zones across from Doors 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 15, 20, 23, 24 or 28. The shuttle is marked “Holiday Inn” and runs every 30 minutes, on the hour and the half hour, around the clock.

Vans are the class most likely to sell out on holiday weekends, so book earlier than you would a car. If you are paying by debit card we can help where airport desks usually cannot, and our SUV guide is worth a look if your group is closer to five than eight.
